YOUTH 4 CLIMATE ACTION PROJECT

Youth 4 Climate Action Project (Y4CAP) is an organization which assists in combating climate change. Y4CAP is also well known for supporting the 17 sustainable development goals for a better future. Similarly Y4CAP is an organization which consists of members from all over the globe and promotes ways to combat climate change and provides factual information to the audience about climate change, human rights and sustainable development goals to improve the standard of living.
This project was established in July of 2020 and initiated by youth representatives from Fiji, Ecuador, Tonga, Indonesia and we have members from Myanmar, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Cameroon, Mali, Algeria, Vanuatu, Samoa, Peru, Ghana, Liberia, Uganda, Haiti, Belize, Mexico, South Korea, Gambia, Tanzania, Germany, Brazil, USA, Philippines, Italy, Sweden, Nigeria, Australia, Ethiopia, Venezuela, Bangladesh, Zambia, Kenya, Afghanistan, Japan and Egypt .
Asia Pacific is the fastest-growing economic region in the world which presented environmental challenges in the region that jeopardize social progress and economic prosperity in Asia and the Pacific, including rapid urbanization and increased demand for resources, loss of ecosystem services, an exponential increase in greenhouse gas emissions, waste generation and pollution and associated threats to human health. The Asia-Pacific region remains the most resource-intensive in the world, and urban areas in the region are generating increasing amounts of municipal solid waste. There has been no progress and even regression across the region since 2015 in protecting, restoring and promoting the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems and conserving biodiversity, and ocean health continues to decline. The region now accounts for over half of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, and the level of emissions is climbing.
Asia and the Pacific is home to 60 percent of the global population aged 15 to 24 years. Across this geographically, politically, socially, culturally and economically expensive region, youth are a very diverse group. While some youth live in rural and urban areas with limited education and employment opportunities, others are leading their lives in areas with world class education and labour market facilities. From ethnic and linguistic differences to the practising of all of the world’s main religions, the region’s heterogeneity provides challenges in terms of tailor-made interventions, yet also opportunities with regards to a wealth of experience to share and choose from.
Because youths have stronger awareness of the issues and a greater stake in long-term sustainability, the environment is one area in which they ought to take the lead. Youths play important roles in reducing risks, responding and fostering resilience to natural disasters, and in decision-making on natural resources and consumption. Fortunately, there is growing evidence of youth as individuals in collectively, conceiving, developing, implementing and participating in a range of environmental initiatives. With the young generation getting involved in simple ways like writing to local government officials, joining environmental activist organizations, and applying sustainable practices in one’s own consumption practices, it’s not too late to shift the paradigm and impact the world in positive ways.
